Runner up: My Ruin

Runner up: Marilyn Manson (Of course, also the video is fairly amusing.)

The Soft Cell version is by far the most popular and it's likely to even think that they were the ones who wrote the song but there are many great versions of it, thanks musicians. People just love to cover this song!

Pursuit of Happiness
Original by Kid Cudi
Cover by Lissie

Remix by Steve Aoki

Personally, I think the original sucks and I like to refer to the remix... but dang if Marilyn Manson is the king of covers, Lissie is the queen.

This cover is just so fucking awesome. Otep is awesome, and really, who else can cover Nirvana and be this cool?

Can probably get a little taste of my musical preferences from this first post. There will be more to come in the future.
As always, add your own!

This is a post about Postmodern Jukebox.

A cover group online with most of their content being YouTube videos and an audio album they have available. Really, the girl is probably the selling point for me with her voice and appearance but I like what the group does with music. Mostly I like her vocals and the changes to tempo they bring. Basically what I hear in my head when I'm replaying a song is what they produce.

Without further ado, here are some of their covers:

Timber

Original by Ke$ha, Pitbull

I will confess, I still haven't listened to this song.

Okay, just did to make sure it works. That wasn't very good. I like the cover much, much more!

The song that got me tuned in and turned on to this group:
Thrift Shop
Note: I'd really like to see them remake this version because I think they've improved as musicians and performers since they made this. I really like the direction they took and her voice and tone really suits it. So good, could be just a little bit better.

Original by Macklemore

Admittedly, I do enjoy this song quite a bit. The cover tickles me, though.

Royals
Note: Not totally sure what's up with the clown. Would have looked a little nicer without his accessory sign and lamp(?) and cheap looking crown. He does have a nice singing voice, I'll give him that.

Original by Lorde

I like the cover more than the original, but the song itself is what really shines no matter the version.

Ending this post off on a high note, because this is a fun song and an excellent cover:
Blurred Lines

Original by Robin Thicke, TI, Pharrell
Spoiler: show

Holy crap! I knew this song was something of a familiar. I always thought of Justin Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds but I knew it was obviously someone else playing with sounds that already worked in a popular way. I like the vocals here and the lyrics really go well with the tones they go for. Nice song in both instances but I much prefer the cover.
