Hunter's How To's - Item Tooltips

Postby Phauss » Sat Nov 07, 2009 3:42 pm

We've recently had the ability to post item links with hovering tooltips. The tooltips show stats of an item, talent, or even player and can be useful when making talent guides, recording who got what, or just posting about juicy drops.

To make an item tooltip, you need to go to WoWHead.com and search for the item you want. When you are viewing that items information page, copy the URL from the browser's address bar.

Wormhole Generator: Northrend
URL: http://www.wowhead.com/?item=48933
Now that we have that address, we make a link to it from the forum like any other link.

Code: Select all
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=48933
http://www.wowhead.com/?item=48933

And that essentially gets the job done. But that link doesn't show us a whole lot about what item we're linking until you hover over it. So to make the post a little prettier, try making the code look like this:

Code: Select all
*Item Name Here*
Wormhole Generator: Northrend

Wormhole Generator: Northrend

Now you have an item tooltip in your post!
We are each a beautiful and unique snowflake that will melt in hell.

I got the words "jacuzzi" and "yakuza" confused.
Now I'm in hot water with the Japanese mafia.

Holy crap, there's a code feature, I never noticed that.
I'm going to make a post with every macro I have shown as a code.
