SH Dedicated Game Server

I'm dedicating this thread to the machine that runs the game servers. I'll post here when a game is added or if the machine is going down for maintenance.

Aw crap, I was afraid of that. I can't do anything about it while I'm in Europe, so the best thing to do, I guess, is to stick with 1.6 for a bit until I can get back and update the server.

Where can I go to get started? I have a legit copy of the game.

The server is using a modded version of the game. A client can be downloaded from here. Log in using your minecraft username and password and it should work out.

So I saw a deal that I couldn't pass up last night. Four 2.5" 36GB 10kRPM hard drives for $25. Normally 36GB is too small to effectively do much, but four of them RAIDed together on the game server should speed things up significantly, especially with those drive speeds. 144GB (36GBx4) will read/write much faster than the single 500GB that's currently in there.

tl;dr: Got a pretty big upgrade for the game server for $25.

I dunno what I'll do with the spare 500GB, though. I could put it into the other server for a total of 1TB, but I want to move the FTP server to that machine and I want no less than 4TB total, or 1TB in each drive bay. Four 2TB drives would make my day.

The two machines I use for MC servers are down for a bit due to busted fans. I have 5 more on the way, enough to get both machines running. The vanilla server will be running on the main server in the meantime.

Note to self: play Minecraft since you were the reason the vanilla server is even running right now.

Scratch that, the vanilla server is offline because it takes too much memory on the main server (2 gigs of memory on a 32 bit machine QQ.) I'll wait for the fans to arrive before I bring things back up.
